Save Skye Eagles Appeal 
Britain’s rarest bird the Sea Eagle frequents the Edinbane Ridge
In fact, the whole UK eagle population is in danger, with 400 wind farms in the planning process in Scotland. The Edinbane project, on the wild and beautiful Isle of Skye, will be the first nail in the coffin for the Scottish eagles. But if we can stop it, we may be able to influence public policy and save the great birds for future generations to enjoy. We need your help. The wind farm development company AMEC is proposing to build a wind farm on a prominent ridge in North Skye, Scotland which is the core habitat for a territorial pair of golden eagles and is used heavily by golden eagles. It is also increasingly used by white-tailed eagles. The area is also home to several pairs of hen harriers, merlin and a small breeding population of golden plover. It is also on the migrating route for whooper swans. Despite the fact that all these birds benefit from the highest possible protection under European law it would appear that both Scottish Natural Heritage and Highland Council have in the past favoured this development. If objections fail we intend to mount a legal challenge to preserve this nationally important ornithological site.
